ARKANSAS TOUR
The Axiom Brass visited the state of Arkansas for a ten-day tour this past May. During our tour we visited ten high schools where we presented educational concerts and clinics. We also performed concerts at the First Baptist Church of Benton, the First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith, and had a special appearance at the First Methodist Church of Benton. To wrap it up, the Axiom Brass was also featured on Little Rock’s Channel 11 KTHV Morning Show, and on Fort Smith’s Channel 5 Morning Show. Thank you friends of the Axiom Brass for making this tour so special. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
University and high school students from ten different states across the USA gathered at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith campus for the annual Axiom Brass Summer Seminar featuring guest artist international trumpet soloist Vince DiMartino. The seminar took place from June 24th to 30th 2007.
Students of the Axiom Brass Quintet performed in large brass choirs, small chamber groups, and worked closely with Axiom and Vince in masterclasses on Performance Anxiety, Power of Goal Setting, Efficient Practice Habits, and Peak Performance Techniques. Participants also attended daily warm-up sessions, brass fundamental classes, and several concerts presented during the week.
With the Axiom Brass Seminar’s concerts open to the public, over 1,000 community members attended the performances. The seminar kicked off with a night of brass quintet music by the Axiom Brass. Other performances included a concert by the River Valley Community Band featuring Vince and Axiom, a Thursday night jam session with Vince and the Brass, and the closing chamber and brass choir concerts featuring students of the Brass Seminar.
