After nearly a decade of research, performance, and collaboration, we are thrilled to share AMPLIFIED, Volume 1: Music by Women of the Late Renaissance and Early Baroque — the first collection of its kind to reimagine this extraordinary music for brass quintet.

Created and developed by Axiom Brass, this project brings together 21 compositions by six remarkable women composers:

  • Maddalena Casulana (c.1544–1590)

  • Raffaella Aleotti (c.1570–after 1646)

  • Caterina Assandra (c.1590–after 1618)

  • Claudia Francesca Rusca (1593–1676)

  • Barbara Strozzi (1619–1677)

  • Leonora Duarte (1610–1678)

These works—spanning more than 50 minutes of music—have been meticulously reworked for brass quintet and represent a wide range of styles and technical levels, making the collection ideal for both advanced performers and developing ensembles.

Yet despite their beauty and historical importance, these compositions have never been recorded in brass quintet form, and some have little or no available recordings at all. Most of these composers remain unknown even to many musicians.
